after being in table games for 11+ years Im tired of dealing with the internal dept drama. This dealer hates that dealer. This dealer is offended by everything etc. Its honestly worse than high school. Id rather setup trips, take guests to concerts, football games etc. Its alot easier being fake nice to someone when they are nice back because they want something as opposed to getting bitched out cuz they are down $5k and you got a craps base dealer fucking up a roll.
I guess I’m just so sour on hosts that I have a very negative opinion of the profession. The industry is so dirty. “Make sure you gamble responsibly” is the public statement but the private discussion is “hey go find a bunch of degenerate losers and encourage them to play rigged carnival games and lose their wife and house.”
I’m not a teetotaler…I’ll play 3-2 blackjack and craps a couple times a year. But it’s pretty sick the amount of mail and calls and e-mails I get from casinos begging for donations. Everyone is trying to get their mitts on as much money as they can while providing nothing but a cheap momentary thrill. It’s actually hilarious, the whole concept. You sit at a table at 10pm and you hear everyone hooting and hollering. By 3am the entire casino is silent and nobody is having a good time and the dealers all have shame on their faces like a hooker walking through a hotel lobby after providing that fleeting thrill.
Last summer I played with a guy and watched him lose 30k in markers and had about 30 Stella’s. Good game, thanks for playing now somebody get him a wheelchair and get him to his room. Sad part is that he was up 10k at the start and his wife and buddies were all planning dinner. He never made that dinner. The look of desperation and sorrow on his face as he kept signing markers left an impression on me. The dealers seemed to feel sorry for him, but the pit bosses had to hide their glee. I know that shit is par for the course and happens everywhere everyday on the Strip. Las Vegas Boulevard, the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
I guess if you’re already working in a casino, you know all this shit already.
